On December 11, 2018, a bilateral exchange between high-ranking representatives from the German Social Accident Insurance and from the French health and accident insurance took place in Berlin. The meeting underlines the close relations in the sector of work accidents and occupational diseases. Since years, experts meet on a regular basis. The participants discussed current developments, platform work, return to work measures, prevention measures for the care sector, international standards on OSH management systems and the cooperation of social security institutions at international level.
The German Social Accident Insurance representatives were interested to hear about experiences in France concerning rules protecting workers for platforms against accidents. In discussions about the benefit of return to work measures, reference was made to the international study on the return on work reintegration of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) that could show that there is a positive impact. The French representatives were furthermore highly interested in prevention measures that German accident insurance institutions have developed for persons in the care sector. How to prevent accidents and occupational diseases of persons active in the care sector is of growing importance. Both sides agreed that the exchange on international standardization and national certificates as "Sicher mit System" should be continued. They also underlined that current challenges for social security systems as e.g. new forms of work or artificial intelligence can be tackled through cooperation at international level.
