Outcome oriented evaluation of medical care provided within the statutory accident insurance

Aims:

The aim of the project is to develop a conceptual and methodological framework for the outcome-oriented evaluation of medical care provided within the statutory accident insurance in Germany. The project will focus on a set of specific types and patterns of injuries. Special attention will be given to health-economic outcome criteria. The project is carried out by a consortium of scientists from five university-based institutes (Greifswald, Halle, Hamburg, Hannover, Jena). The Institute for Community Medicine at the University of Greifswald has taken responsibility for supervision and coordination of the consortium.

Activities/Methods:

In the starting phase concrete steps for the implementation of the project were defined and work packages were allocated. The first meeting of the consortium members with the expert group of the statutory accident insurance (clinicians and experts from the statutory accident insurance) was held in Berlin (25 Sept 2007). Based on suggestions of the consortium a list of injuries considered for the empirical study part was discussed. The set of types and patterns of injuries to be included in the project will be selected at a meeting based on results obtained in formal consensus procedure (Delphi process).
